Wait, there’s a vaccine coming before the end of the year?

I guess the media just completely missed that major story in the run up to the election

Less than two weeks after the election, two major announcements from Pfizer and Moderna about two vaccines that are close to twice as effective as their original targets were accompanied by completely upside down coverage from the media and Democrats.

Way, way back in September and October, the vaccine was a controversial subject, both when it was coming and how safe it would be. The media pumped out article after article about how Trump was “politicizing” the vaccine, and was likely to approve something unsafe for use. The situation was so extreme that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo organized his own task force to vet the Trump vaccine.

“I don’t trust the president and I don’t trust the FDA… They have lied about COVID from day one,” Cuomo added, even saying that the American people “shouldn’t” trust the FDA either.

The theme was picked up on at the Vice Presidential Debate. “If Donald Trump tells us that we should take it, I’m not taking it,” then Democratic vice-presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, said during her debate with Mike Pence.

For his part, Dr. Fauci was warning Americans about a “whole lot of pain” before the election with little (or even no) mention that a vaccine was likely imminent.

Then everything magically changed on November 9 when Pfizer made their infamous announcement about a 90% effective vaccine on the market before the end of the year (and lied about being a part of Trump’s Operation Warp Speed).

All of a sudden, the same Dr. Fauci was bullish on treatments. “We just get better at treating the disease. We know what works, what doesn’t work.” He was also thrilled about the vaccine. “Help is coming, and it’s coming soon…We likely will be able to start dispensing vaccines in December. When we get both of those things together — vaccine and public health measures — that would really be a game changer.”

The media dutifully followed suit. News reports were filled with claims that 50 to 70 million doses would be available before the end of the year with all Americans vaccinated by April of 2021. Governor Cuomo demanded New York get their fair share and Biden claimed that Trump not sharing all the details was going to cost people their lives.

Does anyone honestly believe they didn’t know this a few weeks ago and simply refused to report it?

The vaccine didn’t appear out of thin air. Instead, it was developed according to the schedule Trump had been championing for months, as part of a program developed by his Administration.

During the campaign, it was an impossible, politicized goal. Now, it’s just good news for an incoming Biden administration.
