An investigation magically comes to light right after the election while evidence continues to mount that China is serious about infiltrating the American left
At an event in Iowa City in May 2019, then Presidential-primary Candidate, Joe Biden, weighed in on China with his customary charm and parsimonious language, “China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man…I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what? They’re not competition for us.”
He continued, “They can’t even figure out how to deal with the fact that they have this great division between the China Sea and the mountains in the east, I mean the west,” whatever that means in a possible reference to the South China Sea. “They can’t figure out how they’re going to deal with the corruption that exists within the system.”
Yesterday, this corruption came home, literally, when it was revealed that Biden’s son, Hunter, is under investigation by the Department of Justice for financial dealings with China.
According to CNN and other non-right leaning, social media censored outlets, “Investigators have been examining multiple financial issues, including whether Hunter Biden and his associates violated tax and money laundering laws in business dealings in foreign countries, principally China, according to two people briefed on the probe.”
Hunter himself was forced to issue an anodyne statement, “I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs. I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.”
Of course, Hunter had previously denied making any money whatsoever from China. In October 2019, he was on Good Morning America, “Look, this is — literally has no basis in fact. In any way,” he said, adding, “No one ever paid me $1.5 billion, and if they had, I would not be doing this interview right now.”
Joe Biden himself also denied, repeatedly, that his son participated in any shady business dealings. At the first Presidential Debate, Trump confronted him, “Once you became vice president he made a fortune in Ukraine, in China, in Moscow and various other places.” Biden responded, “That is not true.” Trump asked again, “But why was he given tens of millions of dollars?” Biden continued to deny it, “He wasn’t given tens of millions of dollars…It was all discredited.”
We’ve now learned that Biden was lying, but CNN still went out of its way to claim he wasn’t personally involved, “His father, President-elect Joe Biden, is not implicated.” They repeated the evidence-free claim again in the same article just for good measure, but, apparently, they failed to read their actual reporting on the matter: The additional details make clear Joe Biden might well be involved.
CNN itself says: “After his father left office in 2017, Hunter Biden worked on securing a deal with CEFC China Energy to invest in US energy projects, according to documents released by Republicans.” The deal apparently fell through, but the article continues to note that Hunter “briefly acted as a lawyer to represent Patrick Ho, who ran an organization backed by CEFC, and who was convicted in 2018 of paying millions of dollars in bribes to officials in Chad and Uganda to benefit CEFC energy projects in those countries.”
The article even acknowledges, at long last, the authenticity of the laptop that surfaced during the 2020 campaign, “The FBI took possession of the laptop in late 2019, according to a computer repairman in Delaware who showed reporters a copy of a subpoena. The subpoena is real, according to people briefed on the matter, but the FBI and prosecutors in Delaware have refused to confirm the existence of the investigation.”
CNN completely fails to mention the laptop in question contains emails directly implicating the presumed President-elect; emails that they refused to cover in the run up to the election. The infamous “10 held by H for the big guy,” later identified as Joe Biden himself. There’s another email from Hunter Biden in August 2017 about receiving a $10 million annual fee from a Chinese billionaire for “introductions alone.”
The content and authenticity of these emails was also confirmed by a former business associate, Tony Bobulinski, who told Fox News before the election that Hunter kept his father in the loop, “frequently…asking him for his sign-off or advice on various potential deals” in China.
Nor do they mention that Hunter’s dealings in China began in 2013 when he joined his father on an official visit to Beijing, flying on Air Force Two. Hunter claimed he met an investment banker, Jonathan Li, for a “cup of coffee,” but 12 days later, a private equity fund, BHR Partners, received approval from Chinese authorities with Li as chief executive and Hunter as a board member holding a 10% stake.
That’s one lucrative cup of coffee.
Conveniently, the investigation into Hunter Biden began way back in 2018, but we’re only learning about it a month after the election and Biden appears to be comfortable in his victory, ready to assume the office on January 20. In fact, when Trump and his surrogates were making some of these very claims less than two months ago, Biden was busy lying about them, and the media and big tech were dutifully censoring reports, claiming it was Russian propaganda.
Alas, Hunter Biden isn’t the only subject of China troubles this week. Axios reported that the Democrat Party in California had been infiltrated by a Chinese operative, known as Fang Fang or sometimes Christine Fang. This operative managed to reach into a leading Democrat House Member’s office, Eric Swalwell, a member of the Intelligence committee and a leading proponent of impeachment.
Axios explains, “Fang took part in fundraising activity for Swalwell’s 2014 re-election campaign, according to a Bay Area political operative and a current U.S. intelligence official. Swalwell’s office was directly aware of these activities on its behalf, the political operative said.” Axios continued, “Fang helped place at least one intern in Swalwell’s office, according to those same two people, and interacted with Swalwell at multiple events over the course of several years.”
Strangely, Swalwell was informed of the potential infiltration via a “defensive briefing” by the Obama Administration FBI, the same kind of defensive briefing denied then-candidate Donald Trump by the same Obama Administration FBI in the early stages of the failed Russia investigation. The origins of that investigation are now the subject of a Special Counsel probe led by John Durham.
In addition, Swalwell wasn’t the only California Democrat offered a defensive briefing by Obama’s FBI, so was California Senator Dianne Feinstein. The news broke in 2018 that the Senator’s driver and gopher for 20 years was revealed to be a potential Chinese spy in approximately 2013.
“Five years ago the FBI informed me it had concerns that an administrative member of my California staff was potentially being sought out by the Chinese government to provide information. He was not a mole or a spy, but someone who a foreign intelligence service thought it could recruit.”
Feinstein followed this with a real whopper:
“The FBI reviewed the matter, shared its concerns with me and the employee immediately left my office. He never had access to classified or sensitive information or legislative matters.”
Does anyone believe a personal driver and gopher who at the least was witness to hundreds of meetings and thousands of conversations “never had access to classified or sensitive information or legislative matters”?
Of course, the subject of the potential spying being a Democrat, the media let the story end there. The fact-checking, myth-busting website Snopes still has it listed as “unproven.”
All of this prompts an obvious question: What’s with liberals and China?
After all, these aren’t the only incursions China has been making in the American left.
Last year, there was a scuffle started over a single Tweet by a National Basketball Association manager, Daryl Morey, in support of pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong, prompting China to pull the plug on the NBA for a while. Rather than standing up for democracy, the NBA immediately sprung into action begging China to let them back in.
Joseph Krassenstein, director of marketing at MORE Sports, which helps NBA players connect with their fans in China (whatever that means) said during this period, “There’s a lot of things happening behind the scenes with a lot of very influential people on both sides, from the government side, the distribution broadcasting side, to also the NBA China side — they’ve all worked super hard to get back to a level of open dialogue and commitment to pushing the game further in China.”
For it’s part, Hollywood apparently doesn’t think China can handle the Taiwanese and Japanese flags displayed on the silver screen. Forbes reported on the movie, Top Gun 2: Japanese and Taiwanese flag patches featured on Tom Cruise’s jacket in the original Top Gun film appear to have been removed from the Tencent-backed 2020 sequel, prompting fans to speculate that Paramount Pictures—set to release the movie—is the latest U.S. company to appease China.
Think of it as Black Lives Matter, Uighur Lives Do Not.
Yet, for the past four years, the media and the Democrats have focused obsessively on Russia while China is more dangerous, more powerful, and more embedded in our politics and economy by every measure.
Why are we only hearing about a lot of it now after Biden won?
Different droids…some are more equal than others.
